Abstract
1279422 Flow cell BRITISH TITAN Ltd 14 Sept 1970 [27 Sept 1969] 47638/69 Heading B1X [Also in Divisions F2 and Gl] In a device for measuring the physical or chemical properties, e.g. pH of a titanium dioxide slurry, of a fluid medium flowing through a pipe-line a rectangular cross-section cell member 1 provided at opposite ends with tapered inlet 6 and outlet 9 pipe members is mounted between sections of the pipe line. The inlet 6 and outlet 9 pipe members are of rectangular cross-section where they smoothly join the box-like cell member 7 and taper smoothly away therefrom to a circular crosssection where they join with the pipe-line, e.g. by flanges 8, the rectangular cross-sectional area being equal to that of the circular crosssections to prevent sedimentation in the cellmember 1. Rectangular faces 2, 3 of the cellmember 1 are apertured and provided with bosses into which are inserted temperature compensating electrode 14, glass measuring electrode 15 and reference electrode 16 the latter being connected to a salt reservoir 17 maintained at a greater pressure than the medium being tested. Agitation of the fluid medium in cell 1 is by acoustic transducer 13.
