Abstract

849,628. Fluid flow meters. FISCHER & PORTER CO. Aug. 24, 1956 [Dec. 2, 1955], No. 17453/60. Divided out of 849,627. Class 69 (1). A fluid rate-of-flow meter comprises axially aligned end fittings 187, 201 and 193, 202 having a tapered metering tube 33, housing a float 216, between them. The parts 201, 202 of the end fittings are provided with grooves 203 housing 0-rings 204 which form a fluid-tight seal with metering tube 33 received telescopically in these parts. The part 187 is loaded by a spring 188 which clamps the metering tube in position, seals 206, 207 being provided between the two parts of each end fitting. To remove the tube 33 the part 202 is pressed down and tilted out of engagement with the part 193 and the tube can then be removed. The tube is reassembled in a similar manner. The meter may be used in a dry feed chlorinator apparatus as described in Specification 849,627 (see Group II).
