Abstract

576,409. Spray-producers. HURST, G. F. Sept. 27, 1944, No. 18471. [Class 69 (iit)] In a nozzle for discharging impinging streams of liquid to form a fog for fire extinguishing, the point of impingement 35 or 37 &c. of the streams issuing from the bores can be varied by simultaneous rotation of the cylinders 23, 24 so that the intersection takes place along the centre line of the main nozzle. Equal rotation of the cylinders 23, 24 is obtained by a handle 31, the cylinders being coupled together by gears. The handle 31 is provided with a spring-pressed pin 35 to fit into one or other of the depressions between stop pins 34 to hold the setting of the bores 27. Packing 32 is provided. The nozzle body 20 is enlarged at 21 and its spigot end 7 can be inserted in alternative passages 2 or 4 and secured by one or other of the cut-away pins 12 fitting into the recess 8 or 9 when the pins are rotated by a handle 17. The pins 11 and 12 are coupled by other gears. Gaskets are provided to make a tight joint. The alternative bores 2 and 4 are formed in a main body 1 provided with valves 3, 5 and supplied from the common inlet 6.
