Abstract
575,738. Linear - dimension gauges. GLACIER METAL CO., Ltd., and TAIT, W. H. March 6, 1944, No. 4124. [Class 106 (ii)] Apparatus for measuring the thickness of bodies of curved section, snch as bearing shells, comprises a mandrel for supporting the body rigidly mounted on a frame pivotally carrying a micrometer which may be adjusted and retained in a desired position relative to the mandrel. A bed plate 11 is provided with a level 46, a fixed foot 42 and adjustable feet 43. A hollow-ended mandrel 20 of circular or partcircular section is fitted with a locating pin which enters a hole 19 in an end column 12 on the base-plate. The mandrel is secured to the column by a screw 16 passing through a slot 15 in the column. The U-shaped micrometer is' pivoted on screws 33 in the forked end of a column 27 on the base-plate. The micrometer is provided with a level 47, an adjustable counterweight 40 and a lug 48 abutting a screw 49 in column 27. An adjustable fixed anvil 23 passes through a slot 25 in the hollow end of the mandrel and co-operates with a movable anvil 41 adapted to operate the dial gauge 45.
