Abstract

575,730. Tunnel kilns. INTERNATIONAL FURNACE EQUIPMENT CO., Ltd., and BAILLY, L. April 3, 1944, No. 6178. [Class 51 (ii)] In a continuous tunnel kiln wherein the goods are transported through preheating, firing and cooling zones d, e, f on a conveyer such as trucks g, substantially equal spaces are provided in the kiln, at the top, sides and beneath the goods and air or other gases are supplied to the three zones through tangential openings m, j, q. The air is supplied by a fan (not shown) to one or more ducts k in the wall of the cooling-zone from which it passes through the openings m. A fan withdraws the air from the cooling-zone and delivers it through a duct p in the wall of the firing and preheating zones e, d and thence through the tangential openings j, q. The trucks are provided with hollow decks i to allow the air and gases to circulate beneath the goods. Specification 503,613 is referred to.
