Abstract
575,551. Dust collectors. DALLOW, LAMBERT, & CO., Ltd., and DALLOW, J. E. March 13, 1944, No. 4636. [Class 8 (ii)] An air filter comprises a plurality of flat-sided flexible bags of textile material packed with hair, fibre &c. which alone serves to prevent collapse of the bag against internal suction. In use, dust laden air from grinding, cutting and polishing machines enters a plurality of inlets near the bottom of the rear face of a dust collector unit and is drawn upwards by a motor driven fan through the plurality of open topped filter bags 10 which are suspended side by side from a rectangular metal framework of angle irons 5, 6, with cross members 11 situated about midway up the casing interior. The dust free air is discharged through a vent in the top of the unit. Since air is drawn from the outside to the inside of the filter bags, dust adheres to the outside of the bags and is periodically removed by vibration of a chain suspended frame 25 which includes cross members 27 running between each filter bag. Shaking is effected by operating a lever 29 pivotally mounted on a bracket 30 on an exterior wall of the casing. A removable tray at the bottom of the casing serves as a receptacle for those particles settling out before reaching the filter bags and for the dust shaken from the bag exterior walls.
