Abstract
574,326. Anchors. BECKETT, A. H. Oct. 11, 1943, No. 16664. [Class 113 (i)] In an anchor comprising a shoe 11 pivoted to an arm 10 on an axis which is substantially vertical in the ultimate working position, the major portion of the holding part of the shoe is of T, Y, or like section,'with its leg extending up to the hinge, the leading end of the shoe tapering substantially to a point. The re-entrant angles of the section may be radiused, and the hinge tube 12 welded to the arm may extend at least 180 degrees around the hinge pin 13 welded to the shoe, the permissible angle of relative rotation being limited to about 80 degrees by the welds. The rear of the shoe is provided with diverging arms 20 braced at 23, and with plates 21 flanged at 22 to brace the hinge and to act as a brake for the shoe. The arm is provided with a tapering water-tight chamber 31 of substantially triangular cross-section with its upper surface centrally ridged as at 32. The underside of the arm is knife-edged as at 42 and provided with a claw 40.
