Abstract

574,224. Couplings. DEHN, F. B. (Adel Precision Products Corporation). Aug. 14, 1943, No. 13214. [Class 38 (i)] A device for supporting and bonding metallic conduits, e.g., in an aircraft, comprises a block or blocks of elastic material such as rubber metal plates drawn together by bolts for compressing the blocks on to the conduits and attaching them to a support, and a metallic bonding strip in contact with both the conduits and the bolts. The blocks 1, 2 are formed to embrace the conduits C and are apertured at 8 to receive the bolts 5 that also pass through channelled plates 3, 4 and attach the assembly to a support P. A metallic strip 6 is laid on the surface of the blocks in contact with the conduits C and its ends are bent to fit into the bolt holes 8. An intermediate portion 6c of the strip is punched to form an offset that also fits in the bolt holes. When the bolts 5 are tightened, the blocks are deformed and press the strip tightly into contact with the conduits and with the stem of the bolts. In a modification, Fig. 6 (not shown), the ends of the strip 6 instead of passing outside the blocks 1, 2 are passed through the bolt holes and the extremities bent to lie under the backing plates 3, 4.
