Abstract

1,061,930. Resilient mountings. BTR INDUSTRIES Ltd. Nov. 15, 1963 [Nov. 16, 1962], No. 43422/62. Heading F2S. A resilient mounting comprises two end plates 10, 12 connected by a pad 15, 16 of elastomeric material which is reinforced by one or more intermediate plates 17 whose median plane or planes lie in a plane or planes generally parallel to the planes of the end plates. At least one of the end plates provides or, is associated with stop means, e.g. extensions 18, 19, engaged with or engageable by part of the depth of one of the sides of the pad when the pad is subjected to shear strain. In the construction shown the pads are cut away at 20, 21. In a modification (Fig. 3, not shown) the pads are completely cut away from the extensions 18, 19. Further only one plate may be provided with extensions over the whole areas of which the pad is affixed. The intermediate plate is completely embedded except for its ends in the pad (Fig. 4, not shown). In a further embodiment pads which are cut away completely from the extensions 18, 19 are provided with a corrugated intermediate plate (Fig. 5, not shown). The intermediate plate, or plates may be of dishshaped or chevron cross-section and be formed with apertures through which the pad material penetrates. The mounting may also be in the form of a stack of pads, and intermediate plates.
