Abstract

573,853. Pulley-hoists. PERMAN, P. E. Oct. 16, 1943, No. 17031. [Class 78 (v)] In a geared pulley-hoist which is actuated through worm gearing, overloading is prevented by a ratchet device which is brought into action after a predetermined axial displacement of the worm shaft against spring pressure. The worm shaft 9 is slidably mounted in bearings 10, 12 and is prevented from moving to the right by a collar 11. Movement to the left against the resistance of the spring 18 can take place until the pawl 21, Fig. 3, comes into engagement with the ratchet wheel 13, which is fast on the shaft. A disc 14 rigidly connected with the wheel 13 bears against a friction disc 15 which is free on the shaft and bears against a ratchet wheel 16, also free on the shaft.
