[Class 135] In a single or twin safety valve 11 of the weight-loaded type, the valve spindle 12 carries outside the valve chest a piston 13 subject to outlet pressure through passages 18 and giving supplementary lift after the initial opening of the valve. A loose cylinder 19 surrounded by the skirt of the piston moves with the piston should the two bind together. The upper face of the piston is subject to atmospheric pressure. The loading comprises a weight on a lever 21 which presses on the upper end of the valve spindle and is fulcrumed at 22 to a column upstanding from the valve chest. The outlet may be of restricted cross-sectional area to set up a back-pressure.
