Abstract

567,105. Valves. TOWLER, J. M., and TOWLER, F. H. March 15, 1943, No. 4164. [Class 135] [Also in Group XXVIII] A valve such as described in Specification 526,242, moved by hydraulic pressure against a spring, for byepassing in sequence the chambers of a multi-ram pump or a group of two or more pumps, is provided with means necessitating a substantial increase in pressure to effect the last part of the unloading stroke. As shown, the first part of the unloading stroke is effected against the resistance of a spring 19 by the pressure acting both on a piston 21 and a ram 22, and the last part by the pressure acting on the ram alone. In another form, the piston 21 is dispensed with and an additional spring supplements the resistance of the spring 19 during the last part of the unloading stroke.
