Abstract

572,305. Resilient connections. A.V.A., Ltd., and PENTONY, T. H. June 2, 1943, No. 8863. [Class 108 (iii)] A resilient shock-absorbing device for connecting two members, e.g. for supporting instrument, panels, switchboards, indicators, gyroscopes, &c. on aircraft &c., comprises a disc b mounted on the end of each of two coaxial spindles c adapted to be connected respectively to the two members, the two discs being separated by a resilient distance-piece f and both being enclosed within the opposite inturned open ends of a rubber or other resilient tubular sleeve a which overlap the discs, an inextensible washer e coaxial with the discs b being secured by adhesive to each in-turned end of the sleeve a to prevent disengagement of the discs and sleeve. Each disc has a projecting flange d against which an end of the sleeve abuts. The washer may be made of rubberised cotton &c., or of leather, compressed paper, plastics, felt, &c. The distancepiece f is surrounded by a channel-section ring g in which engages an annular projection h on the sleeve a so that axial vibrations imparted to one end of the device are transmitted by the sleeve to the ring g and are damped by the inertia of the ring. Specification 470,545 is referred to in the Provisional Specification.
