Abstract

572,033. Tanks. HAWKER AIRCRAFT, Ltd., and COXWELL, R. F. H. D. March 20, 1944, No. 5168. [Class 69 (i)] A device for clamping the margins of rubber coverings 14, Figs. 1 and 3, surrounding tank apertures 24, comprises a clamping ring 10 extending over the margin of the covering 14 around an aperture 24 therein and having its inner edge 16 bevelled, a retaining ring 18 secured to the tank shell 22 and formed with an external overhanging lip 28 and a locking member or members 30 inserted between the clamping ring 10 and the retaining ring 18 when the clamping ring 10 is depressed by means of levers 32. In a modification, the retaining ring is a nut 38, Fig. 5, which engages the external thread of a filler-cap or like socket 40, thereby clamping the socket to the tank.
