A gas-cock plug 4 has at the end remote from the handle 1 a skirt 11 extending over a portion of its circumference to co-operate with an annular projection 13 on a sleeve or washer 12 located by lugs 14 and slots 15 in the cock body. The handle 1 is secured by a clip 2 and a screw 3 to the plug 4 which is held in place by a spring 7 abutting a screwed cap 5.
