[Class 79 (iii)] Means for use in supplying oil to various parts of a motor vehicle comprises a main chamber a divided into two or more compartments, only one of which, d, receives oil directly from a filling orifice b, the other or others receiving oil by overflow from the first compartment d, and the compartments being connected as by pipes g, e to different oil-receiving parts of the vehicle. In the arrangement shown, the main tank a is connected by the pipe e to the engine sump f and the inner tank d is connected by the pipe g to parts such as fluid-operated brakes, clutches and the chassis lubricating system. Thus, whenever the engine oil supply is renewed, the inner tank d is first of all filled, and so the oil supply through the pipe g to the various accessories is constantly maintained. An intermediate annular vessel supplying, say, the brake and other control mechanisms may be arranged around the tank d so as to receive the overflow from d, the main tank a receiving its supply from the intermediate vessel.
