Abstract

1,148,609. Change-speed control. K. H. SCHMIDT. 15 Sept., 1966 [16 Sept., 1965], No. 41238/66. Heading F2D. A vehicle transmission with a hydrostatic gear unit 5, 8 between the engine 2 and a synchromesh gear-box 11 is provided with a by-pass valve 34 enabling the motor 8 to be short circuited during gear changing. As shown valve 34 is operated by a hand lever 32 attached to a link 30 having a pin-and-slot connection 29 with the gear shift lever 22 so that the hydrostatic gear is rendered inoperative before a gear shift is initiated and after the shift is completed. Alternatively the by-pass valve may be operated by a separate pedal or by a separate lever mounted near or on the gear change lever.
