[Class 80 (ii)] [Also in Group XXXII] An elastic element for use in couplings, mountings or shaft supports, comprises a pair of plates a, b, united together by rubber c bonded thereto, the free surfaces of the rubber being approximately conical, the plates having lateral flanges f, g, overlying, but spaced from, the conical rubber faces. For a shaft coupling a number of such elements are arranged back to back between pins m, Fig. 4, fixed to one shaft flange n and bores o formed in the other coupling flange p. Adjacent elements may be provided with means to interlock them against relative movement, or movement relative to the pins m and bores o. Knuckle joints, shackles or the like may similarly be built up of a plurality of such elements.
