Abstract

1352231 Flexible shaft couplings R JORN 3 Sept 1971 41311/71 Heading F2U A ring connectible to each of two shafts at a plurality of attachment points 59 ... 64, comprises a plurality of sheet metal elements 35, 36 arranged so that between each two adjacent attachment points the metal elements 35, 36 are curved out of the plane of the ring. To reduced bending stresses in the elements at the attachment points there may be short leaf springs 38, 39 and suitably curved supports 9 ... 12 and spacers (7, 8), Fig. 2 (not shown), adjacent the elements. The ring may include an elastomer 28 ... 31, 37 (e.g. rubber) between the elements 35, 36 and the supports 9 ... 12. The elements may be curved to an S-form between the points 59 ... 64. The ends 41, 42, &c. of parts 9 ... 12, 38 ... 40 may extend either radially of the ring or as in Fig. 8. The elements 35, 36 may each extend round the ring, or the ring may comprise a polygon of separate links bolted together.
