Abstract

570,780. Lubricating systems. PRESSED STEEL CO., Ltd., and ROWLEDGE, E. G. Feb. 5, 1944, No. 2142. [Class 12 (iii)] The valves and cylinder of a refrigerant compressor are lubricated by passing the refrigerant vapour on the suction stroke through a converging-diverging passage 19, to the throat of which oil is led and so atomised and entrained in the vapour. The auxiliary sump 10 is connected by a passage 21 and a small hole 22 to the throat of passage 19, the oil becoming atomised. The vapour then passes to the suction side of the compressor and on its return enters the casing through a rectifying chamber where the oil separates and is led to the main sump.
