Abstract

570,759. Knitting-machines. WILDT & CO., Ltd., and HOLMES, H. H. Oct. 11, 1943, No. 16644. [Class 74 (ii)] A circular machine for knitting socks or other articles or fabrics having pouches and provided with auxiliary fabric tensioning means comprising a device mounted upon a rod so as to be brought automatically 'into engagement with the fabric of the pouch, has means whereby the device can be restored manually to its normal position at any stage of its operative movement and can be held in this position until it is automatically released. The rod 7 supporting the fabric-engaging device is operated from a control drum 12 by levers 9, 11 and link 10, and for holding the rod in its normal inoperative position when it has been raised manually, a stepped bar 23 pivoted on the lever 11 is pulled by a spring 26 so that a shoulder 23a thereon engages beneath a stop 24 on a fixed bracket 14. To release the rod 7, the bar 23 is operated by lever 28 and link 27, the lever 28 being connected to some such mechanism as the heel- and-toe yarn take-up mechanism. The fabricengaging device may be of the form described in Specification 569,668.
