Abstract
570,299. Rectifying alternating current. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., and MOIR, J. Sept. 6, 1943, No. 14515. [Class 38 (ii)] The output voltage of a rectifying arrangement is stabilized by using as the rectifying element a grid-controlled high vacuum valve 2, the grid of which has impressed upon it the voltage drop across a resistance 7 connected in series with an auxiliary grid-controlled valve 6 and glow discharge tube 4 across the output terminals, the grid of the auxiliary valve being connected to a tapping on a potentiometer 8 connected across the output terminals. Current stabilization also may be effected by connecting a resistance 10 in series with the valve 2 so that the voltage applied to the grid of the latter is caused to vary with load current. A full-wave rectifying arrangement is described with reference to Fig. 1 (not shown). In a further modification. Fig. 2 (not shown), a screen grid valve is used, the screen grid being supplied with raw A.C. Specifications 438,521 and 547,588 are referred to.
