Abstract
569,862. Tool-holders. TAYLOR, E. S., and TAYLOR, R. C..Tan. 4, 1944, No. 16208/43. [Class 83 (iii)] In a lathe tool holder comprising lower and upper parts a, b defining an inclined recess b<1> in which the cutter c is gripped, a plate d<1> is slidable on the part a and has a transverse lug f engaging the end of the cutter so as to adjust the height of the cutting edge by locating it in the required position along the inclined recess. A scale g on the part a facilitates the adjustment and springs d force the parts a, b apart when the clamping pressure is released, to free the cutter for removal. In a modification, the plate d' is dispensed with and the scale g is provided on the shank of the cutter c, and in a further modification the holder a, b is mounted on an inclined base along which it is moved for height adjustment of the cutter, the scale and an index mark being provided on the base and part a.
