Abstract
569,747. Brackets. WOOLER, O. C. RITZ-. Aug. 10, 1943, No: 12903, Convention date, March 23, 1942. [Class 52 (v)] An arm 10 of a bracket carrying a rear view mirror 34 of a motor vehicle, mounted for universal movement about a wall support 20, is made of complementary stamped sheet-metal, parts 35, 36 having parallel meeting edges in the middle and divergent edges 35a, 36a at the pivot end and divergent edges 35c, 36c at the end receiving the telescopic tube 30 to which the mirror is secured. The pivot ends are brought together by screwing up nuts 15 on the pivot stud 14, causing the free ends to spread. The free ends are compressed by hand to enter a retaining collar 45, one of the ends being formed with a pressed out lug 46 to engage a hole in the collar to retain the parts together. The sliding tube 30 is retained in adjusted position by a set screw 48 carried by the collar. The parts 35, 36 are held in alignment by a part circular plate 51 riveted at 52 to the lower part and extending above the meeting-edges of the parts. The pivoted end of the arm is fitted with a riveted or loose holed boss to receive the pivot and the pivoted joints are provided with friction and spring washers.
