Abstract

The vehicle rear view mirror for mounting on a door or the coachwork is adjusted by a handle (7) projecting into the vehicle interior. The mirror part (8) projects from a fixed base (1), with an arm (23) of the operating handle passing through the base. This arm carries a plug (6) which fits inside a bush (5) inside the base. The bush is enclosed by a ring (2), attached to that the plug can be rotated about its axis to turn the mirror. The ring is a snap action ring. The bush has an extension (27) which engages the interior of a boss (28) on the adjacent face of the mirror housing. This is attached to two arms (32, 34) connected by a hinge pin (33) and carrying a spring (31) which allows the mirror to swing back if pushed externally.
