569,022. Saponaceous cleansing compositions. RAGUSCHANSKI, W. Aug. 4, 1943, No. 12614. [Class 91] A dry cleansing powder comprises a major proportion of sawdust, bran, or oatmeal or other similar fibrous material, and a minor proportion consisting of soap, one or more alkali per-salts, and an alkali carbonate. The fibrous material may constitute up to about 80 per cent by weight of the mixture. The per-salts specified comprise sodium perborate and sodium percarbonate ; the alkali carbonate exemplified is sodium carbonate. The soap constituent, which is preferably in powder form, is advantageously made either by saponifying a mixture of vegetable oil, such as coconut oil, and an animal oil or fat, such as beef tallow or suet, or by saponifying a drying oil alone, such as linseed oil, preferably in the presence of an alcohol such as methylated spirits.
