Abstract
573,662. Cleansing compositions. PROCTER & GAMBLE CO. Jan. 28, 1943, No. 1492. Convention date, Feb. 19, 1942. [Class 91] Cleansing compositions comprise a mixture of a sulphate or sulphonate detergent and an N- acyl morpholine having 12 to 14 carbon atoms in the acyl radical, with the exception of the compositions arising from the process of Specification 573,470. This process covers the manufacture of sulphonate detergents of the general formula R.CO.OR,.SO, Me, where R.CO is the acyl radical of a fatty acid having 8 to 22 carbon atoms and R, is an alkylene or hydroxyalkylene radical having 2 to 4 carbon atoms, in the presence of the said acyl morpholines which are allowed to remain in admixture with the detergents. The morpholine compounds specified are those derived from lauric, myristic, and mixtures of fatty acids predominant in either or both of these acids such as coconut oil, palm kernel oil, and corozo nut oil fatty acids. The sulphate or sulphonate detergents specified comprise water-soluble salts of sulphonic acids, alkyl sulphuric acids, and sulphuric acid esters of polyhydric alcohols incompletely esterified with a fatty acid of high molecular weight. The actual compounds specified are those exemplified in Specification 572,304.
