568,490. Hinges; bolts. ELKINGTON, V. Nov. 15, 1943, No. 19005. [Classes 65 (ii) and 89 (i)] A removable hinge for a manhole cover, or the like, having a cover 1 and frame 3 with their upper surfaces in one plane, is only positioned when the cover is to be raised. Bolts 9, 10, have non-circular heads 13 which are inserted in slots in the members 1, 3, and the bolts rotated so that the heads lie across the slots, and nuts 11 screwed down. The bolts have nut-retaining heads 12. Ribs 14, 15, provide stops when the cover is opened, a pin passing through holes 16, then in alignment, for locking purposes. A number of holes 16 may be provided. Specifications 447,063, 472,760 and 522,548, [all in Group X], are referred to.
