Abstract

568,210. Hedge cutters. HOLDEN, R. C. July 28, 1943, No. 12282. [Class 6 (ii)] For mounting a hedge-cutting implement on a tractor and driving it therefrom, a vertical angle-iron A<1> is secured to the radiator and supports an arm A<2> carrying the cutting- implement. Height adjustment is effected by a jack D<1>. The drive is obtained from the gear-box A and transmitted through a universal joint C and telescopic shaft D to bevel gearing supported by a bracket E on the arm A<2>, and through a connecting rod E <5> to the reciprocating blade. The cutting implement may be rotated about the pivot E<2> and fixed at the desired angle of working by the engagement of an arm engaging with a quadrant E<3>. The stationary cutter blades are recessed to hold firm the thicker material to be cut. The lower end of a worm-shaft driven from the gear-box A may drive a mower.
