568,061. Filters. VOKES, C. G. Jan. 21, 1943, No. 521/45. Divided out of 568,038, [Group XXVII]. [Class 46] [Also in Group XXVII] A combined heat-exchange and filter device adapted to be connected to the air inlet of an engine, comprises a casing 4 having an air inlet 5 and outlet 6 and enclosing a thin chamber 9 through which oil flows, the air being directed upwards between the chamber and the casing before descending to pass through a filter 1 surrounding the inner end of the outlet tube 6, as described in Specification 568,038: oil enters by a pipe 15 leading to the upper side of a filter 18, provided with a relief valve 20 which opens if pressure on the inlet side of the filter becomes excessive, and flows thence to the heat-exchange chamber 9. The filter may be star-shaped in plan.
