Abstract

567,562. Vehicle wheels. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd., and BUTLER, H. J. Sept. 18, 1943, No. 15333. [Class 144 (ii)] The removable tyre-retaining flanges of vehicle wheels are formed by a series of cells, each cell having a base 1 nesting in the opening of an adjacent cell. Each cell has a rimseating part 2a and a tyre-retaining part 2b, the cell of Fig. 3 also having a tyre beadseating part 2c. The recess 2d is provided for the rim shoulder on one side or the locking ring on the other side. The base 1 and adjacent wall provides a shallow step 3 which rests within the adjoining cell, each cell being tapered to form an annular assembly. The cells are pressed from sheet steel and are brazed together whilst positioned around a former.
