Abstract
567,459. Current detectors. SANGAMO WESTON, Ltd., LOVEGROVE, H. J., and McBRIDE, M. G. May 17, 1944, No. 21090. Divided out of 567,435. [Class 37] A ratiometer is provided with means responsive to the current through the ratiometer coils for indicating the presence of such current. A magnet 60 of low remanence is mounted in close proximity to one pole of the magnet 11 of a ratiometer, such as that described in Specification 567,435, and has coils 61 connected in series with the ratiometer coils. A small permanent magnet 66 carrying a pointer 67 is pivoted so as to be in the field of electromagnet 60 and in the leakage field from magnet 11. When the instrument is not energized, the field of magnet 60 is negligible and the magnet 66 sets symmetrically between the poles of magnet 11. When the ratiometer is passing current, coils 61 are energized and magnet 66 is deflected by the overriding field of magnet 60 and the presence of current is indicated by the pointer 67.
