Abstract

813,185. Electric tests. PHILLIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. June 8, 1956 [June 13, 1955], No. 17796/56. Class 37. In an induction flowmeter in which, to avoid polarization of the electrodes, an alternating field is used, this field is produced by a rotating permanent magnet. The magnet may be a permanently magnetized ferromagnetic compound having a high coercive force and may be electrically substantially non-conductive. The shape of the magnet, which is a sintered metal compound is shown in the Figure, magnetization being such that a pair of poles are located opposite each other on the inner periphery. The rotating magnet may be coupled to a switch 7 so that voltages induced between the electrodes by coupling with the field are prevented from affecting meter 8.
