Abstract

567,125. Partitions. HARRIS & SHELDON, Ltd., SANKEY & SONS, Ltd., J., and BUTLER, H. G. July 29, 1943, No. 12332. [Class 20 (iv)] A partition for a room or building comprises panels 1 of plasterboard, mill-board, plywood, expanded metal, &c. directly bolted to the opposed flanges of angular or channelled vertical units forming posts 2, 3, 4, without filling pieces, Fig. 3. Panels lying in one plane are held by flanges 5 of U-sectioned halfposts 3a and at a wall or where panels meet at right angles quarter-posts 2a are used, Figs. 3 and 9. Jambs for a door are secured between flanges 18 as shown in Fig. 3. The posts are secured to the ceiling by flanged inserts 23 bolted to a cornice 20 and welded &c. to the posts, Fig. 5, and to the floor by gusset-plates 9 bent from sheet metal with overlapped edges 9b. Reinforcing channel members 8 having tubular or beaded edges may be bolted in pairs to the panels at the floor and ceiling and intermediately, the securing nuts being non-rotatably housed in the channels. The edges of the panel-engaging flanges may be folded inwardly.
