Abstract
566,859. Attaching inflators to cycles &c. GOULDING, F. W. March 9, 1943, No. 3775. [Class 136 (i)] A tyre inflator for a cycle, bath-chair, &c., is supported thereon by two spaced screwed studs 6, the socket 7 at the lower end of the inflator body being screwed on one stud by rotation of the body in one direction and the socket 8 in the usual adaptor carried in the inflator handle, being screwed on the other stud by rotating the handle in the opposite direction. The spring which separates the body and handle of the inflator is compressed before the second screwing operation and is still cornpressed when the screwing operations are complete and thus serves to prevent the parts becoming unscrewed. As shown in Fig. 1, each stud 6 is mounted on a boss 5 having a web 4 clamped between fiat extensions 2 of a clip A or B adapted to be secured to the down tube C of a cycle. In modifications : (a) the boss 5 carries a second stud to hold any other object having a suitably threaded socket ; (b) the boss 5 is pivotally or universally mounted on the clip ; and (c) a spring-pressed stud 6, Fig. 6, is slidable in a hollow boss 5, a key 10 preventing rotation of the stud and limiting its outward movement.
