566,727. Venting motor spirit and other containers. ANGLO - IRANIAN OIL CO., Ltd., and VIVIAN, A. C. Aug. 14, 1942, No. 11435. [Class 21] A pouring spout or neck 1 for a container 2, e.g. for motor spirit, oil and like fluids is provided with a passage 7 for vent air, having an axis of symmetry the cross-sectional normal to which is non-circular. The passage has in it a sharp bend so that the part within the container may lie close to the wall, the vent aperture being exterior to the filling aperture. The fitting 1 may be a casting with a sleeve-like extension 5, or may be stamped from sheet metal to form an inwardly flanged sleeve, adapted to take a cover, and having a socket for the vent tube. The latter may be made from two trough-shaped blanks, and it may be provided with two angular bends. A metal band may be used to secure the vent tube in position.
