566,686. Screw fans. JENNINGS, H. W. K. (Sturtevant Co., B. F.). Dec. 29, 1943, No. 21813. [Class 110 (i)] In a multi-stage screw fan, the wheels of the stages are made dissimilar and are so constructed that the stalling depression C in the pressure-volume curve of one wheel is compensated by a rise in the curve of another wheel at the same pressure and volume. The two wheels A, B may have different radial lengths either by using hubs of different radii, or by using hubs of the same radii, and shortening B by narrowing the casing adjacent to B. In another form, the blades are of different radii and have different numbers of blades.
