Abstract

566,666. Vehicle bodies. MULLINERS, Ltd., and THOMPSON, W. April 22, 1943, No. 6522. [Class 108 (i)] Vehicle bodies are built up from composite wooden panels comprising spaced sheets or skins 10, 11 of plywood secured to opposite faces of hardwood framing members 13, the remaining spaces being filled with soft wood 12 or plastic material which may be introduced after the application of the outer skin to the assembly. The framing members may be of laminated wood. Panels may be secured together by bringing the hardwood members together at their edges and applying a hardwood fillet. 14 at the joint, Fig. 1, being a longitudinal section through a corner of the roof in which a laminated cantrail 17 is secured to the lower part of the quarter panel and an inside trimming panel 19 of plywood is secured by adhesive.
