566,417. Rotors for turbines or compressors. SULZER FRERES SOC. ANON. June 22, 1943, Nos. 10030 and 10031. Convention dates, July 10, 1942, and Nov. 5, 1942. [Class 110 (iii)] A turbine rotor is formed of discs 1 having annular projections 2 which are welded together while supported on a centring ring 3. The latter has edges 6 which position neighbouring discs for welding. During welding, the surfaces 6 yield, and the discs afterwards bear on end surfaces 9 of the ring. After welding, the rotor may be heat-treated to remove stresses. In Fig. 4, parts 15 allow a clearance x between projections 19 on the discs. A welding notch 18 is provided between further projections 16 on the discs. After welding, the projections 19 bear against each other. The invention may be applied to compressor, blower or pump rotors. The parts 15 may be complete rings, or cut into sections, using soft iron or copper in their construction.
