Abstract
566,060. Automatic control systems for related quantities. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA AKTIEBOLAGET. Dec. 4, 1942, No. 17259. Convention date, Dec. 13, 1941. [Class 38 (iv)] Voltage; current, &c.-Two related quantities of which one is to be maintained constant so long as the other does not exceed a maximum value, are controlled by a regulator subject jointly to the said quantities, the currents controlling the regulator being derived from the respective quantities, at least one of them through a self-magnetised transductor (or saturable reactor having a retroactive magnetising winding), thus a voltage E, Fig. 1, may be maintained constant until a current I resulting therefrom reaches a maximum value to which it is limited by the action of the regulator. The regulator may itself be a transductor 3, Fig. 2, which has a selfmagnetising winding 33 and a constant current magnetising winding 32 opposed by a regulating winding 31. The winding 31 is excited by two transductors 1, 2 in parallel, the first being excited by a winding 12 in accordance with the voltage of a circuit to be regulated and the second by a winding 22 in accordance with the current in the regulated circuit. These excitations are opposed by a constant current in windings 11, 21 and assisted by self-magnetising windings 13, 23. In addition to regulation as set forth, the arrangement has an inherent tendency to positive compounding, counteracting the negative compounding due to the droop of the regulator. Specifications 462,385, 462,757 and 508,230 are referred to.
