[Class 132 (iii)] [Also in Group V] A toy reinforced-concrete or like construction set comprises a combined coupling and shuttering element, Fig. 9, consisting of a pair of U-section clamps or saddles directed at an angle outwards from each other, so that by fitting the said element within the angle of the adjacent ends of angularly disposed columns, beams or the like, these ends can be held temporarily together and with the aid of further elements or shuttering plates, a shuttering can be constituted around reinforcements projecting from the said ends. As shown in Fig. 1, moulds of various dimensions are built up of a metal base 2 suitably slotted to receive tongues on interfitted strips 11, 13, 17, 18. Reinforcing wires 21 are laced through holes in the transverse strips and strained round projections in the end of the base, and concrete or other mouldable material is poured in and left to set, after which it is removed from the mould and the wires cut to suitable length. In a similar manner, blocks and half-blocks can be made without reinforcement. The precastreinforced beams can be joined to form a T, as shown in Fig. 10, by employing two shutter strips 48 and two shuttering brackets 43 according to the invention. Concrete is poured into the space so formed, and the vertical beam 47 is lowered into position. More complicated reinforced concrete frameworks can be made by the use of more brackets 43 with or without strips 48. Fig. 13 shows the corner of a model building built up of reinforced beams and building blocks 52, the last two blocks being inserted after the removal of the shutters 43 and 57.
