Abstract

1349292 Casting concrete structures VAN HATTUM EN BLANKEVOORT NV 24 Sept 1971 [25 Sept 1970] 44655/71 Heading B5A In a method of building a concrete structure, e.g. a bridge or tower, comprised of a number of moulded prefabricated elements joined together, the elements are arranged or aligned in the position that they will take up in the finished structure, some of the elements being shorter than their final desired lengths and spaced from adjacent elements by a distance such that when mortar is supplied to such spaces, surrounded by mould surfaces, the shorter elements are finally formed to their desired lengths. Surfaces of those adjacent elements which are not to be lengthened are covered by a release agent whereby, after the mortar has hardened, the elements are separated for re-assembly on site. When building a tower composed of moulded elements 26-28, 43, one end of each of the elements 26-28 is not cast but has reinforcement extending from that end. They are appropriately spaced apart on a floor 44 by distances equal to the lengths of the ends to be cast on; mould surfaces 39, 40 are located about such spaces and supplied with mortar. The surfaces 36 of adjacent elements are covered with release agent. In the embodiment of Fig. 10, for the building of a tower, alternate elements 51H of final desired lengths are positioned adjacent elements 51G which are required to have both ends extended by casting mortar between adjacent elements.
