Abstract

565,515. Valves. HYLAND, C. April 10, 1943, No. 5772. [Classes 69 (ii) and 135] [Also in Group XXXIII] A change - over valve for use in hydraulic control systems, particularly steering systems, comprises a floating piston-type valve member moved from one end of its stroke to the other by fluid pressure directed to act on the ends of the valve member through pipes connected to a remotely situated pump. As shown in the Figure the valve member 2 is rotatably con nected to pistor rods 3, 3<1> passing through stuffing boxes 4 in detach able end covers 5, the rod 3 being linked to a hand lever 7 loaded by a tumbler spring 8. The spaces 10 at the opposite ends of the valve are provided with ports 11 connected to the remote pump. To facilitate actuation by the hand lever 7, the spaces 10 are connected by a byepass passage 27 normally closed by a manually-actuated valve 24.
