[Class 99 (i)] [Also in Group XXII] An expansion or flexible joint comprises a number of annular metal diaphragms 4 secured together at their inner and outer margins by clamping rings 2 having at each side a flange 5, Fig. 3, which is turned over to grip the diaphragm between it and the ring. A shoulder 6 of rectangular crosssection in the corner between flange and ring has a thickness equal to that of the diaphragm. The end rings have spigots 1 for securing to the pipes.
