Abstract
564,562. Regulating pumps. WEIR, Ltd., G. & J., and McALPINE, T. July 27, 1943, No. 12196. [Class 102 (i)] [Also in Group XXVI] The supply valve 16 of a motor driving a pump 1 is controlled by a differential piston 8 exposed at one end to the pressure of the atmosphere and a spring 15 and at the other end to the fluid pressure in the throat of a -, venturi passage 3 in the pump discharge through a pipe 5. The differential annulus between the two parts of the piston is exposed to the discharge pressure through a connection 10, and the cross-section of the throat is controlled by an adjustable valve 4. The valve may be shaped so as to form a venturi passage in a parallel-sided tube. Specification 466,613, [Group XXVI], is referred to.
