Abstract

562,933. Valve gear. ASPIN, F. M. March 12, 1943, No. 4082. [Class 7 (vi)] A rotary valve 13 having a conical surface bearing against a housing 12, is splined at 20 to a driving member 19 supported coaxially with the valve by a ball bearing 18 in a bearing housing 23, the upper part of which carries a' plain bearing 17 for the driving member 19, while the lower is located in the housing 12 by a spigot 22a and is bolted thereto, the arrangement giving the valve axial and some lateral freedom. The driving member 19 comprises a pinion 16 driven by a worm wheel 15 on a shaft 14 carried by the housing 12 and the bearing housing 23 comprises the upper part of a two-part member, the lower part 21 of which, is bolted to the housing 12. In assembling, the bearing housing and the driving member form a unit which is slipped into place over the valve 13. Specification 463,412 is referred to.
