Abstract

562,166. Ammunition cartridge clips. BUDD MANUFACTURING CO., E. G. May 19, 1942, No. 6808. Convention date, July 5, 1941. '[Class 9 (i)] Cartridge clips for light automatic ordnance comprise a number of semicircular seats 20 upon which the cartridges 12 (shown by dot- and-pick lines) rest and are releasably held by spring-pressed hooks 14, which enter recesses in the cartridge bases. The clips comprise two L-shaped metal strips 10, 11, of which 10 is thicker than 11 and higher, so as to engage the cartridge groove 28. The overlapping parts 17, 18 of the strips are united by spot-welding, as at 19, and a spacing strip 21, or separate spacing ribs, is or are secured between the walls 10, 11. When a loaded clip is fed into a gun, the hooks 14 are released by a cam and the clips are removed laterally from the cartridges leaving the latter free to be moved into the breech by the feed mechanism of the gun.
