Abstract
291,781. Pedersen, J. D. June 9, 1927, [Convention date]. Magazines.-A cartridge clip is made to hold a double row of cartridges in staggered formation and exert a confining pressure upon them. The clip is stamped from a single piece of metal with a rigid back 145, Fig. 3, and spring sides 146, 147, Fig. 4. The back is stiffened by oblique ribs 148 and provided with a nib 135 adapted to engage a catch in the magazine of the gun for holding the clip against the action of an ejector, as described in Specification 291,779. The sides of the clip have vertical ribs for holding the extracting rims of the cartridges. The upper ends of the sides have stiff inturned lips 152, 153, which guide one cartridge out at a time alternately from one row and the other; and the lower ends of the sides have inturned spring tongues 149, 150 for normally holding the cartridges tightly in the loaded clip. The sides of the clip press against the cartridges until the clip is inserted in the magazine, when bumps 156, 157 on the sides of the clip engage behind ledges in the sides of the. magazine, whereby the sides of the clip are wedged slightly away from the cartridges. The invention is shown applied to a gun having a toggle-link breech mechanism and a cartridge feed mechanism as described in Specifications 291,778, and 291,780 respectively.
