Abstract

560,589. Window pivots. AKTIEBOLAGET ATVIDABERGS INDUSTRIER. Feb. 26, 1943, No. 3209. Convention date, Feb. 26, 1942. [Class 65 (ii)] ' A window 2 is mounted at each side in its frame 1 by two bearing or pivotal elements, one of which comprises a plate 4 fixed to the frame and having three flanges 5, 6, 7 adapted to be frictionally engaged in succession by a flange 11 on the window, so that during the first part of the window's movement its weight it taken by the flange 11, and frictional braking occurs, while during the second part of the movement, a pivot 10 engages a recess 8b in a member 8 which slides with friction on the flange 7 during the first movement until its end 8d abuts on the flange 5. During the second part of the movement, the window turns on 10, which takes at least part of the weight, and frictional braking occurs between the flange 11 on the window and the flanges 6, 7 on the frame, as shown in Fig. 3. The second movement may be continued until the window has turned through 180‹, or it may be stopped at any position, when the window is held by friction. The flange 7 may have a guide flange 7a for the member 8, and this flange has a recess for the pivot 10. In another form, the block 8 and flange 6 are omitted, the lower end of flange 11 slides on flange 7, and the pivot 10 comes to rest in a recess in a bracket on 7.
