Abstract

559,712. Knitting-machines. HOLMES, H. H., HURD, J. C. H., and WILDT & CO., Ltd. July 27, 1942, No. 10503. [Class 74 (ii)] A circular machine having different kinds of instruments, e.g. pelerine instruments 6 and wrap thread guides 7 arranged in a tricked dial 8 is provided with patterning means in the form of selecting cams 10, 11, acting upon one set of butts 9 common to both sets of instruments 6, 7 and other cams 18, 20 operative upon a second set of butts 14, 15 to effect a separation of selected instruments of the one kind from the selected instruments of the other kind. In operation, a patterning cam 10 selects certain of the pelerine instruments and guides and moves them inwardly. The thread guides 7 have long butts 15 and are moved further inwardly to operative position by a dividing cam 18. The perlerine instruments 6 have short butts 14 and are retracted to a common track by a thickened portion 18c of the cam 18. A second patterning cam 11 makes a re-selection of the unmoved and returned instruments. The previously moved guides are returned by a cam 19a and the dividing cam 20 separates the @@ instruments, moving the selected instruments further inwards to take the corresponding sinker loops.
